Three-car garages, three times the hardware
Most Parkland houses are newer and bigger than the Broward average, and that usually means a wide double door plus a single, each with its own springs, cables and opener. When one of them fails, the family still has a way out, which is why we get called late. The part that failed is cheap; the door that was dragged along a bent track for a week is not.
Newer homes, builder-grade parts
A house from the 2000s is not an old house, but it probably still has the rollers, the hinges and the opener the builder installed to a price. Plastic rollers crack, the chain stretches, the opener's gear wears out. Those are the three calls we get most in Parkland, and all three are an hour of work, not a new door.
Wind code in Broward
Parkland is in Broward, which is High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. A new door here has to be approved for that zone, the installation has to be permitted, and the county inspects it. We pull the permit and hand you the paperwork. If your current door already meets the code and only needs struts tightened before the season, that is what we will tell you.
